Insights into Enhancing Electrochemical Performance of Li-Ion Battery Anodes via Polymer Coating

Due to the ever-growing importance of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, development electrode materials and their processing techniques remains a hot topic in academia industry. Even well-developed widely utilized active present issues, such as surface reactivity, irreversible capacity first cycle, ageing. Thus, there have been many efforts modify enhance electrochemical performance resulting electrodes cells. Herein, we review attempts use polymer coatings on anode materials. This type coating stands out because possibility acting an artificial solid electrolyte interphase (SEI), serving protective layer. We discuss prominent examples anodes with different mechanisms: intercalation (graphite titanium oxides), alloy (silicon, tin, germanium), conversion (transition metal oxides) anodes. Finally, give our perspective future developments this field.
